Gilgamesh
is a mythical king of the Sumer city of
Uruk.
His story is told in the
Epic of Gilgamesh.
It is an epic poem and the oldest known written literature from the
3rd millennium B.C. It was written in cuneiform writing. The poem was used
in writting lessons in the whole Middle East. Thus, it contents was well known in
ancient times and has influenced many cultures in the Mediterranian and the Middle East.
